Victoria Busby OBE

Biography

Vic Busby became His Majesty’s High Commissioner to Malta in September 2025. Before this, Vic was Director Protocol and Vice-Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) from September 2020 to July 2025.

From September 2019 to September 2020, Vic was Chief Operating Officer for the COP26 UN Climate Summit. In this Cabinet Office role, Vic led on event management, communications, finance, HR and engagement with the Devolved Administrations.

Previously, Vic worked in the Prime Minister’s Office for seven years as Deputy Director, Events and Visits, leading on all aspects of public engagement for David Cameron and Theresa May.

From 2010 to 2012, Vic was Head of Communication in the Government Olympic Executive. In this role Vic ran campaigns to help build awareness of legacy objectives for the London Olympic Games and led the government’s media operation at the Olympic Park.

Vic started her Civil Service career in 2006, working in a variety of communications posts at the Department for Work and Pensions, the Ministry of Defence and the Home Office.

Vic studied English language and literature at Keble College, Oxford, and spent her early working years in the private sector, including a role at Christie’s auction house.

Vic was honoured to receive the Freedom of the City of London in September 2025. In 2019 she was awarded an OBE for public service.

British High Commissioner to Malta

The High Commissioner is the UK government’s representative in a Commonwealth nation. They are responsible for the direction and work of the High Commission and its Deputy High Commissions and/or Consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations and consular services.
