Dr Tim Sheldon

Biography

Dr Tim Sheldon became Dstl’s Chief Delivery Officer in April 2024.

Tim has a range of experience working across defence. He’s worked in the following areas within MOD:

  • Defence Procurement Agency
  • MOD Head Office
  • Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (DERA)
  • Defence Communications Services Agency (DCSA)
  • Defence Logistics Organisation
  • Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S)
  • Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA)

In 2018, he became the Head of the Astute Submarine Production team before moving in 2020 to become Director of Submarine Acquisition; responsible for the acquisition of all future Royal Navy submarines including the Astute, Dreadnought and SSN AUKUS programmes.

Tim has a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Oxford.

Chief Delivery Officer

The Chief Delivery Officer (CDO) is accountable to the Dstl Chief Executive for the delivery of the billion-pound science and technology portfolio, delivering an agreed portfolio of work to provide high impact, innovative and cost effective capability solutions in support of defence and security’s highest priority requirements. Heading up the Delivery Directorate, the CDO ensures the correct triage, planning and prioritisation takes place, engaging with customers and the supply chain to shape and deliver future demand through the most appropriate routes.
