Tim Moss

Biography

Tim Moss joined DVLA as Chief Executive in March 2025.

Education

Tim has a Master of Arts (MA) in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Swansea University.

Career

Tim has more than 20 years’ experience in the Civil Service.

Before joining DVLA, he was Chief Operating Officer and Director General for corporate services and inspectorates at the Welsh Government. He was responsible for digital, data and technology, finance, human resources, estates, security, legal services, commercial and procurement.

Before that, Tim was Chief Executive at the Intellectual Property Office in Newport. He was also Registrar of Companies for England and Wales and Chief Executive at Companies House in Cardiff.

Tim’s career includes 12 years in senior operational roles in the manufacturing industry.

Chief Executive

The Chief Executive oversees all aspects of DVLA. They make sure DVLA supports the wider Department for Transport (DfT) and government priorities.
