Biography

Tim Hemmings was appointed Deputy Head of Mission, Colombia in July 2021.

Previously, Tim was Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy Madrid responsible for the overall management of the Embassy with particular focus on Political, Economic and Communications issues from 2016 - 2021

As a member of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Tim has worked in a range of positions related to Europe and the European Union, including positions in Brussels at the European Commission and also the UK Permanent Representation office to the EU. From 2009 to 2012 Tim worked as Head of Policy for the Wales Office.

Deputy Head of Mission, British Embassy Colombia

The Deputy Head of Mission is a senior diplomat and typically a key advisor to the Ambassador or High Commissioner. The Deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas Embassy or High Commission. They will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the Ambassador as Chargé d’Affaires. A senior ranking Deputy may also take the title Minister. Smaller missions may not have a Deputy Head.
