Terry Jones

Biography

Terry Jones is the former Director General of the National Farmers’ Union (NFU). In this role, he led the organisation’s 750 staff and represented 42,000 farming and growing businesses across England and Wales, working with governments, the supply chain and the media. He also chaired NFU Commercial Holdings Ltd, a group of professional land‑use services businesses with interests in planning, energy and employment law.

He was previously Industry Co‑Chair of the Food and Drink Sector Council, a formal partnership between industry and government focused on building a more productive and sustainable food and drink sector, engaging Ministers on the national food strategy, export growth and agricultural productivity. He also served as a trustee of the Pay.UK End User Advisory Council, advising the Pay.UK Board to ensure end‑user interests are central to decision‑making and the development of new products and services.

Terry is a trustee of RABI, the farmers’ charity that works to uplift and support farming people through practical, financial and emotional assistance. He previously held senior roles at the NFU, the Provision Trade Federation and the Food and Drink Federation.
