Biography

Susannah Goshko is a career Diplomatic Service officer who took up her appointment as High Commissioner to Canada in September 2021.

Susannah was previously Principal Private Secretary to the Foreign Secretary, a role that she held for two years covering the COVID pandemic and the merger of the Foreign Office and the Department for International Development. She has spent much of her career working on national security issues and has had a number of postings in the Americas (twice in Washington and once in Havana). She has also spent time at the Department for Exiting the EU, where she was responsible for setting up the team that led on the Withdrawal Agreement and has been the UK’s Permanent Representative to UNEP and UN Habitat.

British High Commissioner to Canada

The High Commissioner is the UK government’s representative in a Commonwealth nation. They are responsible for the direction and work of the High Commission and its Deputy High Commissions and/or Consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
