Biography

Simon Featherstone, CMG was British High Commissioner to Malaysia from October 2010 until his death in service in August 2014.

Career at Foreign & Commonwealth Office

  • Consul General Shanghai (1994-96) and Political and Economic Counsellor Beijing during the Hong Kong handover (1996-98).

  • Head of EU Department (External), FCO (1998-2003) responsible for trade policy and EU enlargement.

  • Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Switzerland (2004-2008).

  • Prime Minister’s International Representative on Energy Issues (2008)

  • UK Director for Shanghai Expo, responsible for the award winning UK Pavilion (2009-10).

  • British High Commissioner to Malaysia (2010 2014).
