Sarah Williams-Gardener OBE
Biography
Sarah Williams-Gardener OBE was appointed Non-executive Director of DVLA in February 2024.
Education
Sarah left school after completing O levels and later completed an IBM-sponsored Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the Institut Européen D’administration Des Affaires (INSEAD).
Career
Sarah is an experienced fintech and business leader, currently serving as Chair of FinTech Wales. She was formerly the CEO of FinTech Wales, where under her leadership the organisation drove significant investment into Welsh fintech firms and grew the ecosystem.
Prior to that, Sarah was a founding member of Starling Bank and spent 17 years at IBM, where she held the position of Government Affairs Director UK. She combines experience in banking, technology, policy, and strategic leadership — working across government, fintech, and corporate sectors.
Sarah is an independent member of the Tata translation board, Chair of Business Beats Cancer Cymru and a trustee for Surviving Economic Abuse.
