Sarah Hulton OBE

Biography

Sarah Anne Pascale Hulton OBE is currently the British Ambassador to the Philippines and Palau.

Sarah has recently served in the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office as Interim Director of the Overseas Territories and Polar Directorate and as Interim Director for Geopolitics and Deputy Political Director from 2023 to 2024. From 2019 to 2023, Sarah represented the United Kingdom as High Commissioner in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Prior to her diplomatic posting in Colombo, she held several senior roles in the FCDO. In 2018 to 2019 Sarah served as Head of the DPRK Department; 2015 to 2017 as Head of the Pacific Department. She has previously worked in Consular, Counter terrorism, Counter proliferation as well as leading the political team in Zimbabwe.

In 2019, Sarah was awarded an OBE for Services to Foreign Policy.

Sarah is married to Tony, and they have three children. She enjoys reading biographies, bellringing, and running.

They are responsible for the direction and work of the Embassy and its Consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
