Biography
Robert Easton was Political Counsellor in the British Embassy Beijing from January 2023 to January 2025, and First Secretary Political from August 2021. Before that he worked on trade policy and European issues at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and at HM Treasury as Head of the European Investment Bank Team.
He has previously served in the British Consulate General Chongqing, and the British High Commission Pretoria. Before entering government he worked in the private sector.

Deputy Head of Mission, Moldova
The Deputy Head of Mission is a senior diplomat and typically a key advisor to the Ambassador or High Commissioner. The Deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas Embassy or High Commission. They will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the Ambassador as Chargé d’Affaires. A senior ranking Deputy may also take the title Minister. Smaller missions may not have a Deputy Head.
