Ray Kyles

Biography

Ray Kyles has been British Deputy High Commissioner to Malaysia since January 2010 and has taken on the role of Acting High Commissioner since May 2014.

Education

Ray joined the FCO in 1980 after obtaining a business degree at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. His career anchors have been multilateral work, as a Press Spokesman and postings to 4 Commonwealth countries. He is married to another diplomat with whom he has two children. Ray’s career includes:

  • Deputy High Commissioner to Pakistan (2008-09) and to Kenya (2003-07)

  • Political Adviser to Unilever on its operations in sub-Saharan Africa (2001-03)

  • Deputy Press Secretary, FCO (1996-08 and 2000-01)

  • First Secretary, British High Commission to South Africa (1991-95)
