Philip Hall OBE

Biography

Philip Hall OBE was appointed His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in November 2023.

Philip’s previous roles included the Spending Review at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) from 2015 to 2016. From 2012 to 2015 he headed FCO’s Counter Proliferation Department, leading the UK government’s work to prevent the spread of chemical, biological and nuclear weapons. He was Defence Counsellor in the UK Delegation to NATO from 2008 to 2012.

Most of Philip’s career has been on European and Middle Eastern issues in the FCO, the Cabinet Office and the Treasury. He headed the FCO’s Middle East Peace Process Section from 1999 to 2001. He is a solicitor, completed postgraduate studies in European law and integration in Germany, and has a Masters in Public Policy from the London School of Economics.
