Nerys Jones
Biography
Nerys was Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Vienna from December 2017 until March 2022, following a six month secondment to the UN Department of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs (BMEIA). Nerys is currently the UK’s Charge d’Affaires.
Before taking up her posting in Vienna, Nerys was Deputy Head of the Human Rights and Democracy Department at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London. She has extensive European experience (overseas and in London), and previously served as Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Athens. Nerys has also worked at the British Embassy in Rome; undertaken a temporary attachment to the Governor’s Office in Gibraltar; and studied at the UK Defence Academy in Shrivenham.
Nerys holds a BA Hons degree in Modern Languages (German and Italian) and European Studies. She is also accredited as a Chartered Manager by the Chartered Management Institute.
