Neerav Patel

Biography

Mr Neerav Patel is His Majesty’s Ambassador to the State of Qatar since January 2024.

He has extensive senior diplomatic experience in the Middle East and South Asia, including tours in Egypt, Israel and Afghanistan including as Charge d’Affaires in Israel during recent Gaza conflicts.

In London he has worked for the past 7 Prime Ministers on foreign, security and development policy in a range of roles at the centre of the UK government, including in the Prime Minister’s Policy Unit, supporting the National Security Council, and the Joint Intelligence Organisation. His work has focused on strategic policy-making across the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, China, Russia/Ukraine, international terrorism, and global economic and energy issues.

Mr Patel started his career as a Government Economist, and has a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford. He speaks Arabic.

They are responsible for the direction and work of the embassy and its consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
