Nicola Sawford
Biography
Nicola Sawford joins the GLD Board with extensive strategic and commercial experience, including senior leadership in the legal sector as the former CEO of a Barristers’ Chambers and active involvement across a range of legal organisations.
Nicola is also a Chartered Accountant with a strong understanding of government and emerging opportunities in areas such as AI and case management.
Non-executive Director
The Government Legal Department’s non-executive directors have a range of responsibilities including:
- providing an independent perspective and constructive challenge of the executive function to ensure that the most appropriate business and management processes are in place
- supporting the Permanent Secretary (the Treasury Solicitor)
- engaging in budget panel review meetings
- monitoring and challenging the department’s performance in relation to its objectives, commitments and its strategy
