Mel Lawrance has served as Deputy Consul General to New York since September 2025. Prior, she served around the world in various posts, including as Political Counsellor at the British Embassy in Ankara, and in senior positions in Thailand, Pakistan, and Iraq. She joined the Civil Service in 2004 after a private-sector career in energy and investment banking.
