Matthew Purves
Biography
Matthew Purves took up his post as Regional Director, South East on 31 January 2022.
Matthew was Director for Education Services at a large national multi-academy trust in 2020 and 2021, where his responsibilities included curriculum, safeguarding, wellbeing and teacher and leader development throughout the first two years of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Previously, Matthew was Deputy Director for Schools at Ofsted, where he led on the development of the education inspection framework as well as, at various times, taking responsibility for inspector training, quality assurance, complaints and leading the programme to bring early years inspection back in-house. He has also worked at the Home Office and the Department for Education.
Regional Director, South East
Ofsted’s Regional Directors are responsible for Ofsted’s performance in a particular region. Each Regional Director leads a team of highly skilled inspectors to support improvement through inspection.
