Martin Norman

Biography

Martin Norman was appointed Deputy High Commissioner at the British High Commission Banjul in October 2022.

Martin has worked for the UK government since 2009 in a variety of roles. In 2016, he joined the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and has worked on the Middle East and the Philippines. He has experience in both policy and operational roles, including in peacebuilding, health, governance, human rights, crisis and consular work.

Deputy High Commissioner, The Gambia

The Deputy High Commissioner fulfils a similar role to a Consul General, representing the UK government and typically responsible for consular, visa and trade activities in their city or region. In some countries, the Deputy High Commissioner leads a subordinate office to the High Commission in another major city.
