Mark Smith
Biography
Mark is currently Development Director to the British Office Sudan, based in Nairobi. He leads the UK’s humanitarian and international development engagement and programming in Sudan. Previously Mark led FCDO’s regional and multi-country programming for Africa.
Mark has also led the project delivery function in FCDO, with responsibility for ensuring the organisation’s governance, capabilities and systems could deliver projects worth more than £65bn all around the world. He has also been responsible for risk management in FCDO.
Prior to this Mark led the Department for International Development (DFID) Nepal office and was the Deputy Head for DFID Mozambique. Mark has also worked across Africa and with African institutions in roles for the UK Government, consultancies and NGOs.
Development Director, Sudan
The Development Director oversees the UK’s ODA budget in Sudan.
