Lucy Jones
Biography
Lucy Jones is Deputy Chief Executive Director at the Legal Aid Agency. She was previously Head of Corporate Services, having been appointed to that role in June 2019. Lucy began her civil service career in prisons and, over the last two decades, has worked in a range of roles across the justice sector. These include victims and prisoner policy, ministerial strategy, operational delivery, and large-scale transformational change.

As Deputy Chief Executive Director, Lucy provides strategic leadership across the Agency’s core operational, corporate and contract management portfolios, supporting delivery of the Justice system’s priorities and the long-term sustainability of legal aid. Her responsibilities include:

- Contract management and commissioning
- Corporate services
Head of Corporate Services
As Head of Corporate Services, Lucy led all corporate functions to ensure the safe and effective running of the Agency. Her responsibilities included:
- Strategic planning, including the LAA Strategy and Business Plan
- The Strategic Workforce Plan and People Strategy
- Performance reporting and analysis
- Internal and external communications and strategic stakeholder engagement
- Risk management and assurance
- Corporate governance
- Information security, health & safety and business continuity
