Louise White

Biography

Louise joined DVLA in 1984. She worked in a number of operational and HR roles, before taking on the HR and Estates Director role in June 2016.

Education

Louise holds a Masters (LLM) in Employment Law from the University of Leicester and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development.

Career

Louise has been a civil servant for 32 years. She has spent the majority of the last 15 years in HR-related roles, and the last 4 years as DVLA’s Head of HR with responsibility for providing all HR services. Previous roles have included HR policy and reward, organisation development, resourcing, diversity, learning and development and HR business partnering. She has led on a number of organisational change projects and programmes including large scale resourcing, redundancy, redeployment and TUPE for centralising network services and insourcing the IT function. She was the change manager for the introduction of SAP HR, spent a year at DfT(c) as their Head of Reward, Policy and Employee Relations and also worked in DVLA’s IT function as a project manager and design authority lead for a short period.

HR and Estates Director

The HR and Estates Director is responsible for providing HR and Estates services to DVLA. The HR and Estates Directorate is responsible for setting the strategic people agenda, attracting and growing the diverse skills and talent needed by DVLA, and creating a working environment that allows people to do a great job. They manage employee relations ensuring that the organisation complies with the law, and work with the trade union on issues that affect DVLA people.

They lead the strategic agenda for the Swansea estate, are responsible for physical security of the estate, and manage key supplier relationships both in relation to HR and Estates services. They also lead on business continuity, sustainability, and health and safety.
