Liz Cohen

Biography
Liz Cohen was appointed as Non-Executive Director at the Home Office in March 2026.
Liz is an experienced non-executive director with more than 20 years of work across diverse environments and regions, including established global entities, start-ups, scale-ups, and not-for-profits in the UK, Australia, and the United States.
Liz was appointed as Non-Executive Director at the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) in April 2024. She chairs the Audit and Risk Assurance Committee (ARAC) at DSIT, giving her experience of complex public sector governance, financial stewardship, enterprise risk and assurance in a ministerial department.
Non-executive board member
The main responsibilities of non-executive board members are to:
- attend meetings of the departmental board, chaired by the Secretary of State
- provide over-arching strategic guidance and insight to the department
Non-Executive Director
The non-executive director team come from the private sector with experience of managing large or complex organisations and projects.
Non-executive directors provide advice and bring an external perspective to the department. They also provide support, guidance and challenge on the progress and implementation of operational business plans, recruitment and succession planning.
