British Ambassador to Ecuador Libby Green

Biography

Elisabeth Clare (Libby) Green has been appointed His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Ecuador in succession to Mr Christopher Campbell. She is a senior British diplomat that previously served as Head of Climate and Energy at the British High Commission in New Delhi since 2022. She has extensive experience in international relations, climate policy, and public health, having held a range of leadership roles across Asia and Europe.

Libby served as Deputy Head of Department in the Asia Pacific Directorate at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) from 2017 to 2020. She was Head of Department at the UK Department of Health between 2015 and 2017, and First Secretary for Health at the British Embassy in Beijing from 2012 to 2015.

Her earlier diplomatic roles include First Secretary for Climate and Energy in Beijing (2010–2012), Deputy Head of Mission in Copenhagen (2008–2010), and Second Secretary in Copenhagen (2007–2008). She undertook pre-posting training, including Danish language instruction, from 2006 to 2007.

Elisabeth began her career at the FCO in 2001, serving as a Press Officer and later as Desk Officer in the Security Policy Department (2003–2006).
