Lawrence Jenkins MBE
Biography
Lawrence Jenkins is the Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Lima.
Before Peru, Lawrence worked in the FCDO’s Crisis Management Department in London, as the Head of the Preparedness and Risk team.
Lawrence has previous experience of working in Latin America, through his role in Bogota, as Consul and Regional Consular Manager. His other roles have included working on counter terrorism, national security, international organisations, and his previous overseas and geographic experience includes a posting to Kabul and work on South Asia.
Prior to joining the FCDO, Lawrence worked in advertising, and studied History at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.
Deputy Ambassador, Peru
The Deputy Ambassador is a senior diplomat and typically a key advisor to the Ambassador or High Commissioner. The Deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas Embassy or High Commission. They will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the Ambassador as Chargé d’Affaires. A senior ranking Deputy may also take the title Minister. Smaller missions may not have a Deputy Head.
