Jonathan Smart
Biography
Jonathan Smart took up his post as Regional Director for the North West in January 2024. Previously he was Assistant Regional Director, North West from December 2020.
Before working for Ofsted, Jonathan gained extensive senior leadership experience across a number of educational organisations. He was a headteacher and executive headteacher of 2 secondary schools. He has particular expertise in leadership, curriculum and teaching and learning.
Regional Director, North West
Ofsted’s Regional Directors are responsible for Ofsted’s performance in a particular region. Each Regional Director leads a team of highly skilled inspectors to support improvement through inspection.
