Jo Lomas


Jo Lomas is currently High Commissioner to Rwanda since January 2018 and non resident Ambassador to Burundi since February 2018.

She has previously served as the High Commissioner at the High Commission in Windhoek until January 2018.

She has also been Deputy Head of the Embassy in Sarajevo from June 2011 to July 2015. She served as Chargé d’Affaires a.i. from January to August 2014.

She came to Sarajevo from London where she headed the FCO’s Global Response Centre, our 24 hour response unit for political and consular emergencies.

She has had previous postings in Geneva and Damascus and has a degree in Political Science from the University of Bristol.

Jo is in Windhoek with her husband Chris, six year old daughter and their dog Poppy. They enjoy spending time outdoors.

The High Commissioner is the UK government’s representative in a Commonwealth nation. They are responsible for the direction and work of the High Commission and its Deputy High Commissions and/or Consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
