Dr Jenny Haydock

Biography

Dr Jenny Haydock was appointed Chief Economic Adviser at the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) on 12 May 2026.

Jenny is a member of the senior executive team and is an adviser to the board. She leads the economist team, ensuring that the CMA’s economists and market researchers deliver high-quality analysis across the CMA’s functions, and developing and leading a programme of economic research and evaluation to inform the CMA’s work and wider government priorities.

Previous career highlights include:

  • Deputy Chief Economic Adviser at the CMA
  • Economics Director at the CMA
  • Economic consultant at Charles River Associates (CRA), working across a range of competition policy and regulation matters in the UK and abroad

Chief Economic Adviser

The Chief Economic Adviser at the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is responsible for:

  • providing strong, visible leadership across the organisation
  • ensuring that the CMA’s economists deliver high-quality analysis, and providing guidance on the most complex cases
  • overseeing a programme of microeconomic research on issues of competition, innovation, and productivity
  • building relationships across the competition economics sector in the UK and internationally
