Jennifer Anderson CMG
Biography
Jennifer Anderson has been appointed His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey. She will start her role in August 2026 following full-time Turkish language training.
Jennifer was previously Director, Consular and Crisis at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Commonwealth Office (FCDO). Before this, Jennifer served as Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Ankara until January 2020. She was also Head of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s (FCO) Counter-Terrorism Department.
Jennifer has also served overseas as High Commissioner to Botswana, as Deputy Head of Mission in Indonesia and as First Secretary Political at the British Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels.
Jennifer joined the FCO in 1997 and her previous roles in London focused on security policy, Central Europe and the Balkans.
Before joining the FCO, Jennifer was Research Associate at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, London. Jennifer also worked at the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet in Canberra, Australia. She has degrees in law and political science from the Australian National University.
Jennifer was awarded the Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) in the New Year Honours 2024 Overseas and International List for services to British foreign policy and to British nationals overseas.
