Jason Field
Biography
Jason was appointed Director of Science Operations and Research at the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) in September 2025.
Jason previously worked at the Ministry of Defence as Head of Commissioning for the UK Defence Science and Technology. He held a similar role at the Home Office where he established a new science commissioning function.
His career in government has focused on science and technology, operational analysis and project management; encouraging cross government sharing of science and technology.
Director of Science Operations and Research
The Director of Science Operations and Research is responsible for:
- the operational delivery of science and research in APHA
- the quality and integrity of APHA’s scientific services
- making sure that the scientific perspective is part of the decision-making in APHA
