Harjit Sandhu
Biography
Harjit Sandhu is a senior finance and business leader with extensive experience in executive and non-executive roles across organisations dedicated to social good. He brings expertise in finance leadership, governance, risk, audit and assurance.
He is a non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust.
He has previously served on the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) Management Board and chaired its Audit and Risk Committee, and was also a member of the Department for Education’s Audit and Risk Committee, contributing to assurance, risk, and financial oversight.
His earlier career includes senior roles such as Head of Compliance, Audit and Assurance, Group Chief Accountant, and Finance Director in organisations operating within the education, research, and social housing sectors. He also served as Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee at Soha Housing, where he was a long-standing board member.
His non-executive experience includes roles within the Department for Education, ESFA, and Soha Housing, providing exposure to public-sector governance, risk management, and organisational assurance.
Group Audit, Risk and Assurance Committee Chair, DfT
Non-executive board members provide the Department for Transport with strategic advice, support and challenge. They also attend departmental board meetings and meet with the management team.
