Dr Hany Shoukry
Biography
Dr Hany Shoukry became Director General, Digital and Infrastructure at the Department for Education on 14 September 2026.
He leads the department’s work across digital, data, technology, infrastructure, analysis and science, helping to improve services and outcomes across the department’s mission.
Prior to this appointment, Hany spent 17 years at Sky, where he held senior leadership roles spanning strategy, technology, transformation and service.
Alongside his executive career, he has remained active in academia, with a focus on learning, coaching and leadership. He received the Institute of Coaching’s 2026 Coaching for Social Good Award.
Director General, Digital and Infrastructure
The director general is a member of the Department for Education’s Board and Leadership Team.
The role is responsible for:
- strategy and delivery of the education estates
- digital, data and technology
- strategic analysis, research, data, insight and science
