Mrs Geraldine McCafferty
Biography
Geraldine McCafferty is His Majesty’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates. She took up her appointment in August 2026.
Geraldine is a graduate in Economics from Jesus College, Cambridge University and in International Relations from SAIS, Johns Hopkins University. She has worked in a range of Foreign Policy and National Security roles for the UK government since 1996. She has served overseas in Cyprus (1998-2001), Bosnia (2004-2007), Denmark (2012-2015), Colombia (2015-2019) and China (2022-2026)

The Ambassador represents His Majesty The King and the UK government in the country to which they are appointed. They are responsible for the direction and work of the embassy and its consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
