Fern Horine

Biography

Fern Horine was appointed His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova in October 2023. Previously, Fern was Deputy Head of Department in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Directorate.

She has served in a number of bilateral posts including Baku, Azerbaijan and as Deputy Consul General and Director Trade Canada in Toronto. She has also worked on multilateral diplomacy, serving in both UK delegations to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg and the Conference for Security and Cooperation in Europe based in Vienna.

In London, she has worked on regions such as Latin America, and themes for example trade and investment, drugs and international crime and human rights.  She served as the Chief of Staff to the FCDO’s first Special Envoy for Gender Equality, Joanna Roper.

The Ambassador represents His Majesty The King and the UK government in the country to which they are appointed. They are responsible for the direction and work of the embassy and its consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations and consular services.
