Ed Cornmell

Biography
Ed Cornmell was appointed Executive Director of the Long Term and High Security Estate in June 2025. Long Term and High Security Estate is responsible for the safe, decent and secure management of Category A and B men in a range of custodial settings.
Ed was previously Executive Director of the Youth Custody Service from October 2022, having prior to this been the Deputy Director responsible for prison operations nationally and Deputy Director for COVID-19 Prison Gold Command.
Ed previously worked in the Long Term and High Security Estate as Deputy Director and was Governor of HMP Full Sutton.
Ed also Governed HMP Everthorpe, which became HMP Humber and, having started his career in policy delivery and spent time in Private Office, he has operated at all operational grades from Prison Officer to Governing Governor working in a range of custodial environments.
