Biography

Dominic Williams joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 2005. He has previously worked in the Embassy to France and the High Commission to Sri Lanka and Maldives and has served as Deputy Head of Mission and Consul General in Lima since January 2014.

Much of his career has been spent working on conflict resolution and he was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in recognition of his work during the Sri Lankan conflict. He has also worked on UN Peacekeeping, the Syria conflict and consular issues while serving in London.

Dominic speaks English, French and Spanish. He is married and has a son.

Deputy Head of Mission, Peru

The Deputy Head of Mission is a senior diplomat and typically a key advisor to the Ambassador or High Commissioner. The Deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas Embassy or High Commission. They will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the Ambassador as Chargé d’Affaires. A senior ranking Deputy may also take the title Minister. Smaller missions may not have a Deputy Head.
