Biography

Lord (David) Wolfson of Tredegar KC was appointed as a minister in the Ministry of Justice on 22 December 2020.

Education

David was born in Liverpool in 1968. He went to King David High School, Liverpool and then spent a year at Yeshiva HaKotel in Jerusalem. David read Oriental Studies and Law at Selwyn College, Cambridge, graduating in 1991.

David attended the Inns of Court School of Law, where he was awarded an Inns of Court Scholarship, as well as a Major Scholarship from the Inner Temple. David was Called to the Bar at Inner Temple in October 1992, where he is now a Bencher.

Career outside politics

David practised in commercial law, from Chambers at One Essex Court, Temple.

David was instructed in many of the major banking and commercial disputes in recent years, and his practice extended over a broad range of commercial law, both in litigation and international arbitration. David also sat as an arbitrator in both domestic and international disputes.

Prior to joining the Government, David was awarded “Commercial Litigation Silk of the Year 2020” by The Legal 500, and also “Commercial Litigation Silk of the Year” in the Chambers UK Bar Awards 2020.
