David Concar

Biography

Mr David Concar took up his current role as His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Chile in March 2026.  Before that, David was the British High Commissioner to Tanzania from August 2020 and Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Somalia from January 2017 until February 2019. 

Earlier in his career David spent 7 years at the British Embassy in Beijing.  London-based assignments have included roles in areas such as international sanctions, multilateral institutions and the UK’s overseas territories.

The Ambassador represents His Majesty The King and the UK government in the country to which they are appointed. They are responsible for the direction and work of the Embassy and its Consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations and consular services.
