Danny Mortimer
Biography
Danny Mortimer was appointed Director General, People in February 2026.
Danny joined DHSC from NHS Employers, where he was Chief Executive since 2014. In that role, he represented NHS organisations on workforce policy, pay, social partnership and employment practices.
Danny first worked in the NHS as a porter and care assistant and was then an NHS regional management trainee in North Staffordshire after graduating from university. He went on to work at trusts in Bath and Brighton, before undertaking HR director roles in West Sussex and Hertfordshire. His last role before joining NHS Employers was as Director of Strategy and Workforce in Nottingham.
