Daniel Shepherd

Biography

Daniel is His Majesty’s Ambassador (designate) to the Republic of Guinea, arriving at post in April 2025.

His previous postings include Hanoi, New Delhi, the UK Mission to the UN in New York, Pretoria as Consular Regional Director for Sub Saharan Africa, and most recently Kingston, as Deputy High Commissioner to Jamaica.

His assignments in the UK have included Deputy Head of the Counter Proliferation Department, and Head of the UN Department’s political team.

Daniel holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with Linguistics (First Class) from the University of Sussex.

The Ambassador represents His Majesty The King and the UK government in the country to which they are appointed. They are responsible for the direction and work of the embassy and its consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
