Danial Shaikh

Biography

Danial has been Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Luxembourg since July 2021.

Danial was previously posted to China, where he was Deputy Director responsible for commercial activity in sectors related to innovation and technology. Before that Danial served in Saudi Arabia as the commercial lead in the energy and education sectors.

His first diplomatic posting was to the British Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro where he managed consular services in Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay as well as serving as the Government’s liaison officer for the Football World Cup.

Danial joined the Government from the private sector in 2007, having worked as a Project Manager and Strategic Analyst in the Banking and Police sectors. Danial was educated at City, University of London.

Deputy Head of Mission, Luxembourg

The Deputy Head of Mission is a senior official and typically a key advisor to the Ambassador. The Deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas Embassy. They will represent our intentions in the absence of the Ambassador or Chargé D´Affaires.

The day to day responsibilities include influencing, representational duties, press and public affairs handling, resource management, consular services, trade and investment activities and reporting on political, budgetary and economic developments.
