Dafydd Jones

Biography

Dafydd joined the Office of the Secretary of State for Wales in January 2021. Dafydd heads up the communications team, overseeing all aspects of media relations, digital & social media, stakeholder engagement as well as events and visits.

Career

Before moving to the Wales Office, Dafydd spent 15 years working for a wide variety of media outlets including the BBC, ITV and commercial radio.

Deputy Director, Communications

The Deputy Director, Communications leads the Office of the Secretary of State for Wales’ communications team and supports the Secretary of State and ministers.

The role of the Office of the Secretary of State for Wales’ Management Board is to:

  • give collective and effective leadership to the Office of the Secretary of State for Wales and set its corporate direction and capability standards, informed by ministers’ aims, objectives and priorities
  • oversee the delivery of ministers’ objectives and priorities, as set out in the business plan, and the management of the key associated risks
  • ensure prudent and effective management of the Office of the Secretary of State for Wales’ financial resources and assets
  • agree and maintain a transparent and robust system of internal controls
  • lead and oversee the process of change and efficiency savings
  • lead collectively the management and development of Office of the Secretary of State for Wales civil servants
