Sir Craig Mackey QPM

Biography

Sir Craig Mackey retired as the Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service in 2018. He has operated as a senior police officer for over 17 years, with five years as a Chief Constable and seven years as the Deputy Commissioner. While working for the Metropolitan Police Service, a £3.2 billion 50,000-person public service, he led the change programme, managing complex public/private relationships. Working with national government and the London Mayor.  He has worked with pay review bodies in policing both at the Metropolitan Police employer role and previously as the Chair of the Chief Police Officers Staff Association.  Since retiring, he has advised on policing in Mexico and worked with Policing in Canada. He currently a board member of the British Transport Police Authority, the Civil Nuclear Police Authority, and an independent member of the City of London Police Authority.  In 2019 to 2020 he completed an Independent Review of Serious and Organised Crime for the UK Government.

The Member of the Review Body on Doctors’ and Dentists’ Remuneration is independent. Its role is to make recommendations to the Prime Minister, the Secretary of State for Health, the First Minister and the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing of the Scottish Parliament, the First Minister and the Minister for Health and Social Services in the Welsh Assembly Government and the First Minister, Deputy First Minister and Minister for Health, Social Services and Public Safety of the Northern Ireland Executive on the remuneration of doctors and dentists taking any part in the National Health Service.
