Clara Swinson was appointed Director General for Global Health (previously known as Global and Public Health) in November 2016.
Her previous roles include:
- Director of Adult Social Care Policy
- Director of Health Protection
- Deputy Director, Cross Government Obesity Team
- Principal Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Health
- Health account manager, Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit
Director General, Global Health
Part of DHSC’s senior team, the Director General is responsible for leading health teams, including:
- emergency preparedness and health protection policy
- international
- EU and trade
- social distancing strategy
- vaccines deployment
- therapeutics taskforce
- COVID-19 programme
