Carine Elisabeth Robarts

Biography

Carine Elisabeth Robarts joined the British civil service in 2000 as an Economist at the Cabinet Office, and then as a Governance Adviser at the Department for International Development (DFID). She worked for the Inter-American Development Bank from 2001 to 2003 and for PricewaterhouseCoopers from 2003 to 2010. She returned to the British civil service in 2010 and held various positions, including Senior Governance Adviser in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Central Asia, Deputy Head of Cooperation in Ghana, and more recently Deputy Director of the Sahel, Sudan, and South Sudan Department, and Director for Development in the Sahel.

Carine holds a Master’s degree in Political Science of the Global Economy from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and International Relations from the University of Reading. She is fluent in French and Spanish

They are responsible for the direction and work of the embassy and its consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
