Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE
Biography
Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon is a British computer scientist, mathematician and social entrepreneur, widely recognised as one of the UK’s leading voices on technology, diversity and the future of work.
She is Chief Executive and co-founder of Stemettes, an award‑winning social enterprise established in 2013 to inspire and support young people into science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers. Under her leadership, Stemettes has reached over 70,000 young people across the UK and Europe, contributing to a more diverse and inclusive technology workforce.
Alongside her executive role, she holds a number of senior leadership and advisory positions, including Chancellor of Glasgow Caledonian University and Chair of the Institute for the Future of Work, and has served on boards and councils across academia and public life, including the UK Government’s Digital Skills Partnership and Research England. She was President of the British Science Association from 2022 to 2023.
Dr Anne-Marie was appointed as the Women in Tech Envoy, of the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology’s Women in Tech Taskforce on 9 December 2025 for a term of 18 months.
Women in Tech Envoy
The Women in Tech Envoy is responsible for leading the Women in Tech Taskforce alongside the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology’s Secretary of State.
The Envoy will:
- agree the operating model and scope of the Taskforce, in consultation with the Chair and members
- lead meetings of the Women in Tech Taskforce and to promote the work of the Taskforce through occasional public appearances, engagements, and participating in content and media campaigns
- oversee the activity of the Taskforce and review its progress, to ensure that it is delivering the workplan agreed by the Taskforce and producing workable recommendations and interventions for government consideration - listen to and take account of the views of the wider Taskforce, and its rotating members to reach consensus on advice given to DSIT Ministers - support members in delivering on activities agreed by the Taskforce
The role carries a time commitment of up to 20 days per year, at a remuneration rate of £1,000 per day, giving a maximum total of £20,000 per annum. This is consistent with comparable senior advisory roles across government.
