Biography

Ms Anne Macro was appointed Her Majesty’s High Commissioner to the Kingdom of Lesotho in April 2019. Prior to this appointment, she was Deputy Head of the FCDO’s Projects Task Force. From 2011 to 2015 she was non-resident Deputy High Commissioner to Lesotho and Eswatini, based at the British High Commission in Pretoria.

Anne joined the FCDO in 1997 as an Assistant US Desk Officer in the North American Department. Her previous postings include political, economic, human rights and public diplomacy work in Nigeria, Myanmar, India, Nepal and South Africa.

The High Commissioner is the UK government’s representative in a Commonwealth nation. They are responsible for the direction and work of the High Commission and its Deputy High Commissions and/or Consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
