Andrew Page

Biography

Andrew Page has been in Ljubljana since March 2009. He joined the Foreign Office in 1990, just after the Berlin wall had been torn down in Germany. His first diplomatic posting was in Ukraine, the second to Paris, where he “learned the best French he could”. Back in the UK he spent three busy years as Deputy Director of the Department dealing with Russia. They culminated with the Russia-Georgia war in the last two months of his job in London.

Andrew attended Jesus College, Cambridge where he read Classics. He is single.

As a diplomat he particularly enjoys getting to know how other people live and what matters to them. He also enjoys learning their language both for its own sake and as a means of “getting under the skin” of the country and appreciating its customs and culture.
