Andrew Cook

Biography

Andrew is currently the National Director, Delivery at Ofsted. He has been in this post since 3 February 2025.

Andrew was appointed as His Majesty’s Inspector (HMI) in 2005. He worked as Senior HMI in the West Midlands and then as Regional Director for the East of England. He became Regional Director for the North West in November 2016, taking on additional responsibility for the South West in July 2021. In November 2021, Andrew became Regional Director for the North West and West Midlands. In January 2024 he took on the role of Deputy Chief Operating Officer (Delivery) and in February 2025 was confirmed in his current role of National Director, Delivery.

Before joining Ofsted, Andrew was a successful head teacher and worked in an advisory capacity for a local authority.

National Director, Delivery

The National Director, Delivery is responsible for inspection performance across all of Ofsted’s inspection remits including early years, schools, further education and skills, social care and teacher training. Additionally, the National Director, Delivery oversees the work of the Risk Assessment, Selection and Forecasting (RASAF) team and the unregistered schools team.
