Andrew Cartner
Biography
Andrew joined HM Treasury (HMT) in September 2022 as Director Public Spending, where he leads the teams responsible for delivering high quality government financial reporting and data, with a focus on using this information to improve decision making and accountability across government. He is also Deputy Head of the Government Finance Function setting the Strategy and Standards for the function. Andrew is a CIMA qualified accountant.
He has 27 years’ experience in the Civil Service across several departments including DWP, HMRC and DEFRA.
Andrew lives in Gateshead, is married to Elizabeth and has two teenage children (Lucas and Hayden). He is a big football fan (supporting Newcastle United) and a keen runner.
