Amanda Arrowsmith

Biography

Amanda Arrowsmith has been a Non-Executive Director of the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Board since February 2025.

Amanda brings over 30 years of senior leadership experience across the public, private and third sectors, with a particular focus on people strategy, organisation development and business transformation.

She is currently Executive Director of People & Culture at the Royal British Legion, where she leads people strategy and large-scale organisational change. Amanda has held senior roles across a range of organisations, including the CIPD, and has extensive experience in shaping inclusive workplace cultures. She is an advocate for evidence-based people practices and has spoken internationally on topics such as the ethical and inclusive integration of AI in the workplace.

Amanda holds additional governance experience and has contributed to advancing equity, diversity and inclusion through strategic advisory roles. She is deeply committed to aligning people practices with organisational outcomes.

Amanda holds an MSc in Human Resource Management and is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and is currently undertaking post graduate research as a doctoral candidate.

DBS Board Member

Board members are senior figures from outside DBS who bring a mix of expertise and skills from across the public and private sector. They all:

  • oversee performance
  • set the strategic direction for the DBS
  • support and challenge management on implementing the DBS strategic direction
  • make sure that statutory duties are carried out

DBS board members are appointed following open and fair competition and in line with the Governance Code on Public Appointments. The appointments are for an initial period of 3 years, with the possibility of re-appointment.
